Hayden sees the past. Just touching an object will occasionally give her flashes of the previous owner's memories. And if that memory happens to be a deeply hidden secret, then she has no problem making you pay for your crime, in cash.
Cassie sees the future, and it sucks. She will randomly wake up from dreams filled with disasters that she feels compelled to stop, and she would really like to stop watching her boyfriend fall in love with someone else!
But when Cassie tries to warn Hayden that her latest blackmailing scheme is a trap, she knows she's really in trouble. All her visions warn her of the upcoming kidnapping, nothing she does stops it. And it's all Hayden's fault!
Can Hayden's gift help her find Cassie before it's too late?
What would you do if you spent the day with Cassie and Hayden? Where would you go to eat, hang out, relax, etc.?
They probably would not enjoy this, but I’d love to just hang out in my apartment and see if they get any visions—particularly about my future! (I wouldn’t mind if Cassie had some winning lottery numbers she wanted to share either).
If Cassie and Hayden were to hang out with other fictional characters, who would they be and why?
I think they’d have a great time with the cast of the CW’s Nancy Drew. Cassie and Hayden would be able to use their visions to help Nancy’s team solve the supernatural mysteries around town!
If there was one fictional place you could travel to for a day, where would it be and why?
I have a huge sweet tooth, so I’d love to spend the day and have free rein inside Willy Wonka’s Factory.
If you buried a time capsule with three items inside, what three items would you choose and why?
If it was a time capsule just for myself to uncover decades down the line — I’d put my phone (with a charger) so I can read all the texts I sent during this period of time, my list of book ideas that I’ve yet to write, and photos of my family and friends. I think it would be a nice trip down memory lane (and to see if I ended up writing any of those old book ideas)!
What was your favorite bit of research you ended up not using?
I wound up researching a lot of escape tricks, slight of hand, and things like that. The majority did not make it in the book, but it led me down a rabbit hole of YouTube videos that were pretty fascinating to watch!
What is your favorite quote, scene, or moment from You Should Have Seen This Coming?
The back-and-forth banter between Hayden and Brody. It was so much fun to write. I always love an enemies-to-lovers storyline!
