Hannah's a witch, but not the kind you're thinking of. She's the real deal, an Elemental with the power to control fire, earth, water, and air. But even though she lives in Salem, Massachusetts, her magic is a secret she has to keep to herself. If she's ever caught using it in front of a Reg (read: non-witch), she could lose it. For good. So, Hannah spends most of her time avoiding her ex-girlfriend (and fellow Elemental Witch) Veronica, hanging out with her best friend, and working at the Fly By Night Cauldron selling candles and crystals to tourists, goths, and local Wiccans.

But dealing with her ex is the least of Hannah's concerns when a terrifying blood ritual interrupts the end-of-school-year bonfire. Evidence of dark magic begins to appear all over Salem, and Hannah's sure it's the work of a deadly Blood Witch. The issue is, her coven is less than convinced, forcing Hannah to team up with the last person she wants to see: Veronica.

While the pair attempt to smoke out the Blood Witch at a house party, Hannah meets Morgan, a cute new ballerina in town. But trying to date amid a supernatural crisis is easier said than done, and Hannah will have to test the limits of her power if she's going to save her coven and get the girl, especially when the attacks on Salem's witches become deadlier by the day.

Isabel Sterling's delightful, suspenseful debut is equal parts sweet romance and thrilling mystery. With everything she loves on the line, Hannah must confront this murderous villain before her coven--and any chance she has with the new girl--is destroyed.

A TL;DR OF MY REVIEW:

  • I LOVED this book!!!
  • QUEER WITCHES FTW
  • Such a BEAUTIFUL cover and AMAZINGLY MAGICAL book!
  • Woah that ending was… 🤯

WHERE DO I START?! I knew right from the start that this book was going to be, and I quote, “exactly as amazing as I hoped it would be.” THIS. BOOK. IS. A. QUEER. WITCHY. BOOK!!! I am HERE for this! There were great friendships, great families, great love interests, and great exes. How often does that happen? Not often enough! I was guessing at who the “big bad” was going to be right up until the very end, and then I was still surprised with how it played out. I really really loved the relationships Hannah had with all of the people in her life. Basically, I loved everything and I just can’t wait for more!!!

Uh… I wish I had the next book in my hand right now? Like, this is seriously such an amazing book and I can’t think of anything that I want to be different! (tiny note: I wish Gemma had had a different last name and/or that her parents had been nicer. it was super weird to have Mrs. Goodwin not mean like the nicest person you’ve ever met!)

lolol I’m laughing so hard at this

Let’s start off with the fact that the main color here is purple, which is my FAVORITE color!!! Next, the tarot/character cards, crystals, flowers, and candle all work PERFECTLY to let us know that this is going to be a witchy book! And the artwork lets us know that it’s going to be a CUTE witchy book! So basically what I’m saying is that this cover is PERFECT and I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!

10/10 stars!!!

  • Toil and Trouble, Edited by Jessica Spotswood and Tess Sharpe
  • Hocus Pocus
  • Charmed

OH MY GOD did you know that View Spoiler » was going to be the View Spoiler » Like, I guessed it, but I thought/hoped I would be wrong!!! And I wasn’t!!! Also, Hannah View Spoiler » Serious cuteness overload!!!
