What would you do if you spent the day with Lila and Teddy? Where would you go to eat, hang out, relax, etc.?
I would absolutely and no doubt complete the Top Ten Things to do in Holly list. From eating fried marshmallows to playing chess at the train depot and then ice skating (I’m pretty bad at ice skating) and all the rest. And, I would really love to see Teddy and Lila do karaoke. Heck, I’m usually a shy person, but for them, I’d jump up and sing and oldie but goodie song.
If Lila and Teddy were to hang out with characters from other books, who would they be and why?
I think Lila and Teddy would get along with Mat and Winnie of Pintip Dunn’s Dating Makes Perfect. I think that they could relate to each other’s plight in getting to know (and like) someone who you thought wasn’t compatible with in the first place!
If there was one fictional place you could travel to for a day, where would it be and why?
I would love to go to Rosehill Cottage in Surrey, which was the place Kate Winslet’s character owned in the film The Holiday. A writing retreat there sounds absolutely heavenly.
If you buried a time capsule with three items inside, what three items would you choose and why?
1 – One of my journals. I journal every day and it would be interesting to see if my neurosis held up over time!
2 – My cell phone. With how fast technology is going I wonder how different our cell phones evolve.
3 – A face mask. A reminder of the global pandemic that we all lived in.
What was your favorite bit of research you ended up not using?
The different indoor climbing competitions! It is a serious sport, and the community is huge! My son is an indoor climber and spending time talking about something he loves was really special.
What is your favorite quote, scene, or moment from The Holiday Switch?
My absolute favorite scene is of Teddy and Lila ice skating at Prancer’s Ice Skating Rink. I love it so much that I commissioned Jacqueline Li, the book cover’s illustrator, to draw the scene so I could give it away as a thank you to readers.
