Okay, here goes: contemporaries are <strong>VERY<\/strong> hit or miss for me. And <em>Furia<\/em> was&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8241 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kaitgoodwin.com\/books\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Version-2-Flower-Banner-Summer-2020.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"60\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>A HIT<\/strong>! yay!!!<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">WHY DID I READ IT?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I was asked to be a part of the Algonquin Blog Tour (thanks Algonquin!) and the summary sounded really interesting! I used to play soccer when I was little, so I figured if there was ever a sports book for me to read, this would be it!<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">WHAT I LOVED (TOLD IN Ao3 TAGS)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: center;\">Childhood friends to lovers<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: center;\">What to do when your childhood friend becomes famous<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: center;\">Local girl too ambitious for neighborhood<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">FAVORITE CHARACTER?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Camila! Although I also loved Roxana, so maybe it should be a tie&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">WILL I RE-READ IT?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Maybe? I really enjoyed it, so I don&#8217;t want to say no&#8230;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">THREE WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE BOOK<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">f\u00fatbol (soccer for us Americans), expectations, ambition<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">ON RELATING TO CHARACTERS&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">When I started reading this, I was having trouble connecting with Camila. Her life is very, very different from mine and I kept thinking, &#8220;Why is she doing that? That&#8217;s not what I would do.&#8221; And then I remembered something my history professor said one day, and I&#8217;m paraphrasing here, but it was something like don&#8217;t think about what you would do as yourself, think about what you would do if you were in this time and place and surrounded by all the influences that they were. Also, I love the blue in Camila&#8217;s hair. And now for the not so great&#8230; this cover is not super appealing to me? There&#8217;s nothing on the cover to tell you that it&#8217;s a sports book.
