I really love how fierce and smart and powerful she is, and I wouldn\u2019t mind being all of those things for a day or longer. Plus, I\u2019ve always had a bit of a thing for Ron.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>What would you do if you spent the day with Amy and Oliver? Where would you go to eat, hang out, relax, etc.?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I would love to a concert with Amy and Oliver. I think they would really understand how excited and passionate I get in the face of live music. And then we could hang out at the caf\u00e9 and talk music while we eat greasy burgers and fries.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>If Amy and Oliver were to hang out with characters from other YA books, who would they be and why?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I want to put Amy and Oliver in a room with the band boys from Sarah Dessen\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Lullaby<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and maybe Owen from <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just Listen.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I think they could all talk music from different perspectives, and it would be a great time.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>What was your favorite bit of research you ended up not using?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of my best friends has a degree in jazz piano and is a huge jazz enthusiast. When I was first writing the book, I had a very big chapter about jazz, and I had my friend sit down with me to talk about the history of the genre. He must have gone on for an hour about jazz, and I felt awful when I ended up cutting the whole thing but also kind of relieved because jazz is just so not for me.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>What is your favorite quote, scene, or moment from <\/b><b><i>All Our Worst Ideas<\/i><\/b><b>?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I feel like my favorite moment would be a huge spoiler, so I\u2019ll go with second favorite. Very early on, when they\u2019re still getting to know each other, Amy discovers that Oliver has a tattoo and that the two of them share a favorite band. That moment, when Oliver is a little dumbstruck that he has something in common with Amy and that he might actually want to be friends with her, is such a good moment to me and one of the very first that I wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Were there alternate endings you considered, or did you always know where the story was headed?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The thing about <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All Our Worst Ideas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is that one of the major plotlines in the book centers around whether or not Amy makes valedictorian. The whole time I was writing the book, I had no idea if she was going to get it or not.
