I loved trying to figure out who everyone was and what was going on (because there was a LOT!) The whole book gave me kind of a <em>The Cruel Prince<\/em> vibe, especially Liam. Ina is such a sweetheart, and I enjoyed the friendship between her, Jules, and Caro. I can&#8217;t wait to see how the relationships develop in book two!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Bad:<\/strong> Not sure if this was on purpose or not, but Roan&#8217;s characterization was a little lacking for me. I felt suspicious of him right up until <span class=\"ubb-spoiler\"><a class=\"ubb-view-spoil\">View Spoiler &raquo;<\/a><span style=\"display: none;\" class=\"ubb-thespoil\">he died. <a class=\"ubb-hide-spoil\" style=\"cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;\">&laquo; Hide Spoiler<\/a><\/span><\/span> It could totally have been a thing where I was projecting Locke onto him (<em>see note about the whole thing reminding me of The Cruel Prince<\/em>), and I was just expecting him to be evil because of that, but there was also&#8230; Bea? I think? It&#8217;s almost certainly why I decided I needed to read it in the first place, but it&#8217;s honestly been so long that I don&#8217;t remember. For more information on what I&#8217;m talking about, click <a href=\"http:\/\/sortinghatchats.tumblr.com\/thebasics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jules:<\/strong> Primary Ravenclaw, Secondary Hufflepuff<\/p>\n<p>Jules&#8217; primary <em>motivation<\/em> for doing things in this book is that she has to know <em>why<\/em> things happened the way they did. She needs the knowledge in order to work out how she feels about it, which is basically the definition of a Ravenclaw Primary.<\/p>\n<p>The way she <em>does<\/em> things, though, that&#8217;s a Hufflepuff Secondary. I think the best evidence of this is actually spoken by <span class=\"ubb-spoiler\"><a class=\"ubb-view-spoil\">View Spoiler &raquo;<\/a><span style=\"display: none;\" class=\"ubb-thespoil\">Caro <a class=\"ubb-hide-spoil\" style=\"cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;\">&laquo; Hide Spoiler<\/a><\/span><\/span> when she says &#8220;And worse, you always have <em>help<\/em>.&#8221; The way she says it makes it seem like the worst thing you could possibly do is be kind to others and have that work out for you. I can&#8217;t wait to see what book two does with this!<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t really get enough of anyone else in this book to be sure, but hopefully my review for book two will have a sorting of Liam!<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Spoilers Sweetie<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>I thought for most of the book (okay, right up until I was proven wrong) that&nbsp;<span class=\"ubb-spoiler\"><a class=\"ubb-view-spoil\">View Spoiler &raquo;<\/a><span style=\"display: none;\" class=\"ubb-thespoil\">the Queen was the Sorceress <a class=\"ubb-hide-spoil\" style=\"cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;\">&laquo; Hide Spoiler<\/a><\/span><\/span>, so I was <strong>ONE HUNDRED PERCENT<\/strong> thrown when it was <span class=\"ubb-spoiler\"><a class=\"ubb-view-spoil\">View Spoiler &raquo;<\/a><span style=\"display: none;\" class=\"ubb-thespoil\">Caro!!! <a class=\"ubb-hide-spoil\" style=\"cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;\">&laquo; Hide Spoiler<\/a><\/span><\/span><br>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ubb-spoiler\"><a class=\"ubb-view-spoil\">View Spoiler &raquo;<\/a><span style=\"display: none;\" class=\"ubb-thespoil\">Ina and Jules being twins <a class=\"ubb-hide-spoil\" style=\"cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;\">&laquo; Hide Spoiler<\/a><\/span><\/span> is such a great twist! I loved how it kind of foreshadowed it when <span class=\"ubb-spoiler\"><a class=\"ubb-view-spoil\">View Spoiler &raquo;<\/a><span style=\"display: none;\" class=\"ubb-thespoil\">they were at the orphanage and Jules realized they were only born a few days apart <a class=\"ubb-hide-spoil\" style=\"cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;\">&laquo; Hide Spoiler<\/a><\/span><\/span> (okay, maybe that&#8217;s not foreshadowing so much as something that got me thinking), but now I&#8217;m <strong>SUPER WORRIED<\/strong> something terrible is going to happen to <span class=\"ubb-spoiler\"><a class=\"ubb-view-spoil\">View Spoiler &raquo;<\/a><span style=\"display: none;\" class=\"ubb-thespoil\">Ina <a class=\"ubb-hide-spoil\" style=\"cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;\">&laquo; Hide Spoiler<\/a><\/span><\/span>!<\/p>\n<p>ONE LAST THING. I <strong>LOVED, LOVED, LOVED<\/strong> that <span class=\"ubb-spoiler\"><a class=\"ubb-view-spoil\">View Spoiler &raquo;<\/a><span style=\"display: none;\" class=\"ubb-thespoil\">Lady Sida Gerling&#8217;s INSANE theories turned out to be (kind of) true!  <a class=\"ubb-hide-spoil\" style=\"cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;\">&laquo; Hide Spoiler<\/a><\/span><\/span>The fact that we were given at least partial answers right there in the beginning but <span class=\"ubb-spoiler\"><a class=\"ubb-view-spoil\">View Spoiler &raquo;<\/a><span style=\"display: none;\" class=\"ubb-thespoil\">because it was a *crazy old lady* saying it <a class=\"ubb-hide-spoil\" style=\"cursor: hand; cursor: pointer;\">&laquo; Hide Spoiler<\/a><\/span><\/span> I just brushed past it is just ?!?!?!?!?!<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Let&#8217;s Discuss<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Do you enjoy books with plot twists or do you prefer to know what&#8217;s going to happen (or at least have some idea of the path it will follow)?
