Where would you go to eat, hang out, relax, etc.?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I would <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">love <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hanging out with any of these characters for the day! My goal was to write a friend group that readers would enjoy spending time with, and I hope there\u2019s a little something there for everyone. Julia is an expert hula hooper, which is a skill I\u2019ve always wanted to acquire, so I would definitely make her give me lessons. With Madison\u2026is laying on a roof and talking about our feelings an option? The same goes for Zoe, actually. These girls really need to talk through their emotions, and I would enjoy playing therapist. With Alex, I\u2019d probably just hang out and play video games (but then ditch him halfway through the day to spend time with his little sister, who is the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">real <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">star of the show.)<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>If\u00a0Julia, Alex, Zoe, and Madison\u00a0were\u00a0to hang out with characters from other books, who would they be and why?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is such a good question! I\u2019ve been thinking about it for days, and this is what I\u2019ve come up with:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I think Madison would hang out with Katniss from <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Hunger Games<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. She\u2019s got that deep-rooted anger but also a keen sense of justice, and I think she would enjoy running around in a forest and learning how to use a bow and arrow (though she would <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">be cool with actually shooting animals).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Zoe would hang out with Alex and Henry from <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Red, White, and Royal Blue<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. I\u2019ve always imagined her as a lover of romance novels, and I think she would enjoy sparring with those two.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s been years since Alex read a book that wasn\u2019t assigned for English class\u2014he\u2019s much more interested in watching tv or playing video games for entertainment. So in that case\u2026perhaps Jay Gatsby? Winston Smith?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And this may be cheating, but Julia would <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">definitely <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hang out with Yesmina from <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Legend of Elgorp <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(a fictional fantasy series she\u2019s obsessed with).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>If there was one fictional place you could travel to for a day, where would it be and why?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I grew up reading <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Princess Diaries<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> series and always wanted to hang out with Princess Mia, so I would probably pick the fictional country of Genovia\u2014the palace, specifically. I\u2019m pretty sure Mia has to be queen by now, right?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>If you buried a time\u00a0capsule with three items inside, what three items would you choose and\u00a0why?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Definitely a bag of my favorite paperbacks, just in case reading gets goes fully digital in the future. I would <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">be able to handle that. I\u2019m also an avid scrapbooker, so I would probably include some kind of collection of photos. After that\u2026maybe a Twinkie or a bag of Cheetos? Just to see if they were still edible however many decades from now.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What was your favorite bit of research you ended up not using?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I did so much research on local congressional districts in Eugene, Oregon and the political demographics of various neighborhoods. The entire storyline involving American politics ended up getting cut, but I spent lots of time on population spreadsheets before that happened.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is your favorite quote, scene, or moment from\u00a0<\/b><b><i>The Night When No One Had Sex<\/i><\/b><b>?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I love Madison and Jake\u2019s conversation on the roof. There\u2019s something about playing Fuck, Marry, Kill on the roof at three in the morning while devouring hot Cheetos that feels quintessentially high school to me.
