Quick note: Because Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon is in April, I’m using my spring graphics for this post. I’m really excited for all the spring colors I’ll be using soon!<\/p>\n

If you’ve ever found yourself on Kait Plus Books before, you probably already know that I LOVE Dewey’s 24-Hour Readathon. I’ve been participating in it since October 2016, hosting my mini-challenge since April 2018, and volunteering with the twitter and blog posts since October 2020! Today’s post is all about the pre-readathon mini-challenge, and this time there is only one- the board game.<\/p>\n

Roll One: 2<\/h2>\n

Okay, so 2 spaces from start is Read for One Hour<\/strong>. Going to go do that now, then I’ll be back to update!<\/p>\n

Roll two: 3<\/h2>\n

Three spaces forward is Read a Contemporary<\/strong>. I’m going to read My Last Summer with Cass<\/em> by Mark Crilley!<\/p>\n

One space forward is Roll Again<\/strong>. Okay.<\/p>\n

roll four: 6<\/h2>\n

Six spaces forward is…. Go Back to Start<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

roll five: 3<\/h2>\n

Three spaces from start is Read Any Book<\/strong>. Alright, I can do that. I’m going to read\/listen to A Thousand Pieces of You<\/em> by Claudia Gray.<\/p>\n

One move forward is Read a Book in Your Favorite Genre<\/strong>. I… don’t really have a favorite genre? I mean usually I’d say Alternate History is my favorite genre, and someone inventing a dimension jumping device pre-2020 definitely counts as alternate history, so I’m just going to go ahead and count Ten Thousand Skies Above You<\/em> as reading a book in my favorite genre.<\/p>\n

This time I told google to use a 20-sided die so that hopefully I wouldn’t get stuck on the Roll Again<\/strong> square again. Twelve spaces forward is Read for 2 Hours<\/strong>. Okay. Currently reading\/listening two A Million Worlds With You<\/em> by Claudia Gray, so I’ll do that for two hours and then check back in!<\/p>\n

roll 8: 3<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I used another 20-sided die, but my number was much lower this time! Three moves ahead is Listen to an Audiobook<\/strong>. Great! That’s what I’m doing right now. I’ll check in again once I finish this book.<\/p>\n

And five spaces forward is… Read for 3 Hours<\/strong>. Okay! Going to do that.<\/p>\n

Three spaces ahead of that is… Read 200 Pages<\/strong>. Starting that now!<\/p>\n

Okay, well six spaces forward is past the end of the board, so I guess I’ll do the last space! Read 500 pages.<\/strong> I’m going to finish The Princess and the Fangirl<\/em> and then jump into Aru Shah<\/em>, so hopefully this won’t take very long!<\/p>\n

Update March 30<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Read The Princess and the Fangirl<\/em> pages 217-320, Once a Princess<\/em> 1-17, Bookish and the Beast<\/em> 1-159. 279 pages read, 221 to go!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Update april 19<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Oops, I totally forgot to keep updating this! I have now finished Bookish and the Beast<\/em> (159-288), plus Zara Hossain is Here<\/em> (1-320) and It Goes Like This<\/em> (1-352). I’ve also read pages 1-61 of Take Me Home Tonight<\/em> and 1-301 of The Upside of Unrequited<\/em>.<\/p>\n

My total page count is now 1,442<\/strong>. And with that, I have completed the pre-readathon challenge! yay!!!<\/p>\n
